Many of the inner city and low-income families that Breakaway serves are in need of warm coats and portable heaters for the winter months. We could use donated winter coats (all sizes) and any portable heaters you may have sitting in the garage.

There is also a specific monetary need for one family that needs to get their water running again.

Monica is a single mom living in the inner city, trying to raise two children whose father is in prison. Her older daughter attends our summer camp and receives mentoring through Breakaway. She has been a hardworking mother, taking college classes and trying to better herself for her children and their future but she had a setback earlier this year. She fell and broke her knee and has been out of work ever since.

This family hasn’t had running water in their home since August and the only reason we didn’t know about it until now is that she was too embarrassed to ask for help until the desperation set in. We have been in touch with the water company and to sum it up: Monica needs $258 to get the water in their home turned back on.
