Breakaway Outreach will host former Harlem Globetrotter Seth Franco on Monday through Wednesday in a Skillz 4 Life Tour.
Franco was the first white Globetrotter since 1942. For three years he has shared his ball-handling routine and his Christian testimony all over the world.
He is teaming up with Breakaway Outreach, which delivers to at-risk youths what it believes is a life-changing message of salvation through Jesus Christ.
The stop here will feature a community rally and will include evangelistic services in several juvenile detention centers, where Franco will perform his ball-handling skills with music, followed by a Gospel presentation. Franco also will demonstrate his skills with a basketball in public schools, where he will talk about the importance of staying drug-free and having character.
The community event will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Citrus High School gym and is open to all ages. Along with Franco’s presentation, there will be giveaways, concessions stands with subs, burgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks, T-shirts, DVDs and a live band.
Giveaways will be awarded through contests. Gifts include a $25 gift certificate to Home Depot, $40 gift certificate for Big T’s Golf Shop, a free haircut/blow dry from Attitudes Family Hair Care, a curling iron from Sally’s Beauty Supply and a Nike patriotic basketball autographed by Franco.
